Paul McLeod is a highly experienced construction industry professional with over 33 years of expertise, starting as a Structural Steel Detailer before expanding into software implementation, consulting, and management.

​

After earning his Mechanical Engineering Advanced Diploma from QUT, Paul began his career at BDS Steel Detailers (now DBM Vircon), where he became an early adopter of AutoCAD and later Xsteel (now Tekla Structures).

​

Paul played a pivotal role in introducing Tekla Structures to the Australian market, leading technical support and training at Pacific Computing, before advancing to General Manager. 

​

Later, he transitioned into independent consulting, founding Tekcon Services, where he now helps over 150 clients maximize efficiency, streamline workflows, and optimize their use of Tekla Structures.

​

Throughout his career, Paul has been instrumental in implementing 3D BIM technology, training professionals, and refining business processes to enhance productivity.

​

Beyond consulting, Paul is dedicated to industry development, collaborating with the Australian Steel Institute (ASI) and Australian Construction Modellers Association (ACMA) to attract and train new talent in steel detailing and construction modelling.

 

His contributions include developing training programs, webinars, and industry resources to equip the next generation with the skills needed for digital construction.
